Water price comparison in 36 EU cities

In a comparison of water prices in 36 EU cities, the price of tap water in Oslo turned out to be the highest. For 1,000 litres (1 m3) of drinking water, Norwegian citizens pay 5.51 euros. Of all cities in the European Member States, drinking water is cheapest in Naples, Italy. There, the same amount of water costs 1.42 euros. Holidu's water price index compares water prices in 114 cities around the world. In this global comparison, water prices in Oslo are the highest. Holidu also compared the prices for bottled water. The organisation wants to give travellers an idea about the travel costs of one of the most essential needs: water. The result is an interesting list also for water professionals. Water prices are an important indicator of the implementation of the cost recovery principle.

Holidu's research methods included comparisons of tap water prices in cities up to 15 m³ per month. Parameters used to calculate the monthly price/m3 included the type of service, the last available water tariff, additional monthly service charges where applicable and VAT where applicable.
